This week actress Scarlett Johansson debuted the music video for “Falling Down,” the first song off her album “Anywhere I Lay My Head.” Regardless of her ability, it was a gutsy move, as actors’ attempts to cross over into music are often disastrous. Bitchy gossip mongers a la Perez Hilton were hating on ScarJo before the single even came out.

Predictably, Perez Hilton posted the video under the heading, “Words Can’t Describe How Bad This Is.” It’s true the song’s not especially catchy, and drags along at a dirge’s pace.  ScarJo is sassy and outspoken in interviews, but there’s none of that energy here. The video follows the star on a typical day as she rides to a shoot, gets her makeup did, stands before the cameras, then gets back in the car. There’s a lack of color in the vid, everything washed out into blues and grays to match the mood of the vocals. Anyone who thinks a celeb’s life is action-packed need only watch this to see how tedious it must be at times.  ScarJo’s voice sounds neither bad nor especially good, as the song doesn’t allow any vocal range. The actress is undoubtedly proud of herself for not going the pop-py, bubblegum route with her music, but let’s hope her other tracks aren’t as snooze-inducing.
