Tyra & Co. announce ANTM Cycle 10 winner (spoiler!)

Published by lolli at 5:32 pm under TV Edit This

antm-cycle10-ladies.pngTyra and her posse capped off season 10 of America’s Next Top Model last night with the traditional Cover Girl commercial shoot. The second-to-last challenge is always a nerve-wracking one for the girls, as it shows their potential as a spokesperson. They have to do more than strike a pose, also memorizing and delivering lines.

The competition was narrowed down to three finalists: Fatima, the pin-thin Somalian, uber-blond Anya, and the season’s token plus-size hopeful, Whitney. The episode started with ever-cheerful Anya showing signs of wear as she broke down and cried in the model’s chair. During the commercials, Fatima looked gorgeous but got shy, while the judges criticized Whitney for her beauty contestant delivery. At half-time, Fatima was given the boot, but she didn’t let it get her down, leaving in teary wonderment at her accomplishments.

For their last challenge, the girls took to the runway for a Versace show also featuring last season’s winner, Saleisha. “Stomp it to the death!” commanded Jay Manuel, their on-shoot adviser from day one. Both girls brought their A-game, but it was Whitney’s turn to wow the judges with her “power” and “presence.” The panel voted Whitney as the winner, making her the first full-figured Top Model. Said one judge of Whitney: “This should not be called plus-size or full-figured, this should just be called beautiful.”
