Long-sober rocker reportedly in rehab
Us Magazine is reporting that Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has checked into Las Encinas Hospital drug rehab clinic in Pasadena, CA. The facility is the same one in which Dr. Drew recently filmed VH1’s Celebrity Rehab.
The sixty year old rocker has been honest about his past struggles with drug and alcohol abuse. In the 70’s and 80’s, he and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry were nicknamed the Toxic Twins because of their extreme indulgence in illicit substances. Tyler became addicted to heroin in the 80’s, collapsing on stage during performances, until an intervention in 1986 forced him into treatment.
Since then, Aerosmith has had great success, with Tyler growing into an international icon. I was under the impression that Tyler had been clean and sober for decades–I think a lot of people were. However, it just takes one slip to end years of sobriety…
