Hot Topic debuts Perez Hilton line; crowds flock in other direction
Perez Hilton debuted his line of clothing and accessories for Hot Topic this past Friday night, appearing at an L.A. store to greet fans. Hot Topics in the area were supplied with wristbands to hand out for the event, and Hilton hyped it up on his web site.
I’m not really interested in buying shirts designed by a man who wears a Hello Kitty shower cap to an event, and I’m not alone. According to Gawker, the debut was a flop extraordinaire. The site features pictures of a handful of bored mall-goers milling about during the debut. I don’t know, maybe it’s because the clothes look just as expected, like someone ate a bratty tween’s wardrobe and then vomited it up:

They also have his name splashed all over them, as if wearers didn’t feel trashy enough.
Perez frequently rags on celebs with clothing lines. He points out that Lauren Conrad’s is criminally overpriced, while Jessica Simpson wouldn’t be caught dead in an item from her more modestly-priced line. Perez would wear the items from his line, and that’s the problem.
