Entertainment Weekly reports that the creators of cult fave Strangers with Candy have made a TV movie that will air on Nickelodeon this fall. That’s right, the minds behind former boozer, user and loser Jerri Blank have made a family primetime movie.

Gym Teacher: The Movie stars Amy Sedaris, Law & Order’s Christopher Meloni, and David Alan Grier. Meloni plays a failed athlete-turned P.E. teacher, whose early humiliation as a gymnast fuels his zest for coaching. Sedaris plays a principal (no doubt with a few screws loose) who falls for Meloni. The movie was directed by Paul Dinello, who Strangers fans know (and love!) as the closeted gay art teacher having an affair with a fellow-teacher played by Stephen Colbert. The film airs September 12, and while it may not provide the twisted delights of Strangers, it’ll be nice to see Sedaris don a wig once again.
